Bay Electric Co., Inc., was awarded a contract for the installation of 4 school bus charging dispensers for James City Counties 4 all electric buses. Lower cost and less maintenance are an added plus. Phase 1 participants of this program were able to purchase electric school buses at the same cost as diesel models. Electric buses get the equivalent of 17 miles per gallon (MPG) compared to 6 MPG for diesel. An electric bus reduces operation and maintenance costs for schools by 60% as compared to a diesel model.
